The New Generation Group (NGG) of the Jewish Historical Society of England is excited to announce the call for papers for its first conference for emerging Jewish Studies researchers under the theme “Re-reading, Re-framing, and Re-membering.” The NGG is an international group of emerging scholars connected by a wide-ranging interest in Jewish studies. Given its original group name, the NGG conference will concentrate on innovative ways of exploring Jewish history and studies. The conference aims to offer space for postgraduate and early career researchers to engage critically on emerging trends and new perspectives in Jewish studies.

The NGG conference spans academic fields and encourages submission examining different spaces and periods, from Biblical times to the modern day. Our title, Re-reading, Re-framing, and Re-membering, encourages 20-minute papers that bring new topics, approaches, or frameworks into Jewish studies. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
- Interdisciplinary research
- Digital humanities and alternative research methodologies (oral histories, material analysis, visual culture etc)
- Intersectional approaches (Gender, sexuality, disability, class, race, ethnicity, etc)
- Heritage and community
- Anglo-Jewish culture (sport, social media, humour, identity, etc)

We are delighted to invite postgraduate students, early career researchers, and independent scholars (working on Jewish related topics) to submit abstracts (250 words), with a short biography (100 words). Abstracts should be sent to c.j.e.guigui@qmul.ac.uk
Submissions should be received by 18:00 pm (GMT) on the 1st of February.

The conference is organised with the generous contribution of the Jewish Historical Society of England. Unfortunately, funding for travel costs (to the conference) will not be available and participants are responsible for their own expenses.
